Lateral Flow Testing

Testing for those without coronavirus symptoms is beginning across the country using new, quicker COVID-19 tests known as Lateral Flow Devices. Up to one third of people who have coronavirus are asymptomatic. By testing we will help to reduce the spread in school through asymptomatic transmission.

Swabbing and processing of these tests will be conducted in our dedicated testing centre located on site with results available in around 30 minutes. Our testing centre will be staffed by members of the RWS Community.

It is anticipated that both routine testing and daily contact testing will be carried out. Daily contact testing will allow those who are in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 to return to school, if they agree to be tested for 7 days, following last contact with a positive case and that test is negative.

During the first half of the spring term, routine testing will be provided for students attending, and staff supporting, the Key Worker and specialist SEND provisions on site.

Along with the other protective measures we are taking, testing will allow us to take further action to help students and staff remain in school.

How the Test Works

NHS How To Test Yourself

For children aged under 16, we require parental consent for them to be tested. Please complete the online form, if your child is under 16 and you would like them to be tested. Please complete one consent form for each child on roll at the school who you wish to participate in testing. Children aged 16 and over should complete the online form under the supervision of their parent/carer. Please complete this by 5pm Monday 11th January.

We request that you complete the consent form in the event that you do not consent, in order that we have a record of your decision, and to reduce unnecessary contact with you regarding testing.

We also recommend that you read carefully the Privacy Notice with regard to the school’s Lateral Flow Testing Centre. A Data Protection COVID-19 testing FAQ document can also be found here.
