Link Governor roles: Curriculum and Data

Jez is an IT professional (27 years), the last 21 years with HSBC.  He has extensive experience running large change programs and implementing technology solutions to support business processes. 

Jez is married with 3 sons, (22, 20 and 14).  His two elder sons attended RWS and achieved a very high level of academic qualifications. One son (22) has achieved a first at University (Exeter & Rugters (NYC), one son (20 – who was Head Boy at the School) is at Warwick University.  Jez’ youngest son (14) is currently in year 10.  All 3 have benefited from the fantastic academic and extra-curricular opportunities that RWS has to offer.
Link Governor roles: HR and Finance (Chair of Finance and Admin committees)

Tim has worked in the Lloyd’s Insurance market for over 33 years as a Members Agent, currently responsible for a range of Third Party Capital investors in Lloyd’s. Prior to that he spent a period in the Foreign Office. Tim joined the Ravens Wood Governing Body in Sept 2014; prior to this he was an LEA Governor at Warren Road Primary School for over 19 years.

His two sons have now left Ravens Wood and are studying respectively at: Oxford (MPhil in Economics) and Loughborough (BA/BSc in Product Design and Ergonomics).

Link Governor roles: SEND and Safeguarding

Desiree was previously a governor at the Highway school Orpington and Newstead Wood School for Girls, Orpington; she joined the RWS Governing Body in 2014.  Before retirement Desiree worked for the NHS, primarily training as a SRN then later becoming a Health Visitor and Community Practice teacher, training student Health Visitors; Desiree especially loved working with new mothers and their families in the community. 

Since becoming a Link Governor for SEND and Safeguarding, Desiree’s previous role as a health visitor has given her more insight and understanding of this role.

On a personal note Desiree is married, has two grown-up sons and two lovely grandchildren.
Link Governor roles:  Health and Safety and Training and Development

William has worked as a mechanical engineer in many diverse industries, mainly test and evaluation for the defence industry. He was a negotiator with the AEEU in an MOD establishment.

William has worked as a Design and Technology technician at Ravens Wood School since 2002. He has held the post of Staff Governor for the past nine years, serving on many committees and sub-committees. William has a son at the school in the Sixth Form.

Link Governor roles: Careers and Site and Planning

Dave is a Parent Governor with 3 sons at the school in years 7, 9 and 11. 
Dave's background is in the Financial Services industry, initially at Barclays where he worked for 10 years.  He has been at Commerzbank for the last 15 years where he is an IT Manager, within the Infrastructure function, providing the platforms upon which the Banks applications run.

Dave is a keen advocate of enrichment activities in the school that give young people the experience and skills they need to grow into well-rounded members of the community, and equip them for life after RWS.

Outside of work Dave has volunteered as a Scout leader for the last 5 years and he previously spent 6 years as co-chair for a Primary School PTA.  He is also a member of the Governing Body’s Pay and Finance committees.
Link Governor roles: Pupil Premium and More Able Learners

Clare is a Parent Governor and qualified counsellor, working with children and young people in local schools.  She has 3 sons at the School who are entering the Sixth Form.

Clare’s background is in business journalism and media relations in the UK and abroad.  She is passionate about challenging and stretching more able students, maintaining fair support for students with additional needs, promoting positive mental health for all students and staff, and encouraging open parent/staff dialogue.

Linda Tooher

Link Governor Role: More Able Learners

Linda trained as a teacher and has been involved in Education for 38 years. She has worked in Bexley, Lewisham and Bromley schools and has a wide range of teaching experience from Pre-school to Secondary. Her main area of expertise is in the support of vulnerable pupils (and their families) with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties within the educational context of school. However, she believes in an holistic approach to enhancing the progress of every pupil – working with the pupil, the family and the staff to establish the best relationship and environment for academic achievement.

Linda has lived in Bromley for nearly 40 years and has two lovely grown up daughters. She is a creative person who enjoys sport, art, drama, modern dance and interior design.
